Happy New year to all our brilliant customers and friends – old and new. We’re really excited about what 2018 will bring.
Thrilling things are already afoot at Bluebird HQ – we’ve got a fantastic new head baker joining us (we’ll tell you more about that soon) and we’ve got loads of new recipes and products to share with you all. We’ll be celebrating Real Bread Week soon too (running from 24th Feb) when we’ll be creating some special one-off loaves and raising some dough for the great work of the Real Bread Campaign.

Seeking sourdough specialists
We’re always on the hunt for sourdough specialists to join our growing team. If you’re an experienced baker looking for a new role in a Yorkshire ‘real bread’ bakery – drop us a line at [email protected] so we can talk all things long-fermentation.
We’re seeking an eager apprentice!
If you’ve got a passion for sourdough, an appreciation for baking and a little bit of experience in the bag, we’d love to hear from you. We can offer training in all areas of preparation, long-fermentation methods and hand-shaping techniques. In short, a skill for life!
Work is fully paid and will involve night shifts on rotation with our small team of friendly bakers in Malton.

Sourdough September – it’s nearly over!

We’ve had everyone from perfect pancake-makers and full-family bakers to those who have named their starter ‘Dave’. The month is almost over and we’ve had had the best response to the Real Bread Campaign’s project than ever before.
If you haven’t yet picked your starter kit up, there’s still time. Just drop into one of our shops and chat to our staff. They’ll give you a little pot of starter and some instructions to go with it – or you can view a little animation of our process and download the details here.
Sourdough September – it’s nearly here!
Sourdough September is nearly upon us – not that we’re wishing away all that (potential) August sunshine.
For a whole month, we’ll be giving away free pots of starter, instructions for making your own ‘real bread’ and offering a free online loaf clinic. If you want to take part, kindly register interest by dropping us a line or commenting on our Facebook page so we can keep a handle on how many kits to prepare. Excitin’ stuff eh?

It’s Real Bread week!
This week we are celebrating REAL BREAD WEEK!
There’s loads going on (read about the floury fiesta of fougasse formation here) and we’ll be providing dough to a local school so all the kids can try sourdough pizza. Did you know we also give out free recipes and instructions for making your own sourdough? To give it a whirl, just drop us a line.

Our Leeds shop is over a month old now – and we’ve had a really warm welcome to the city. Enthusiastic customers and supportive traders have made the move to big-city life worth every tricky (read: stressful) moment. We know that people are still discovering our shop daily and our brilliant new staff have been on the receiving end of some great feedback. If there’s anything special you’d like to see – or taste – just get in touch. We love to give our little baking team a challenge.
